Methodology
How WordRushTools builds its dictionaries, scores plays, ranks candidates, and validates educational content.
Dictionary sources
Our word lists are compiled from publicly available open-source word lists (ENABLE, SOWPODS-derived public lists, and Wiktionary-derived corpora). Where competitive game lexicons differ, we surface the relevant dictionary preset rather than asserting one canonical list.
Scoring
Scrabble and Words With Friends scores use the published tile values for each game. Board-aware suggestions in the Score Optimizer apply standard premium-square multipliers (DL, TL, DW, TW) and bingo bonuses.
Wordle ranking
Wordle candidates are ranked by information gain — guesses that maximally split the remaining solution space — using a deterministic frequency-weighted entropy estimate over the candidate list after applying green/yellow/gray constraints.
Crossword pattern matching
Crossword solver patterns use case-insensitive literal letters with ? as a single-character wildcard. Length and starts-with filters are applied as additional constraints before ranking results alphabetically.

Long-form articles in the Academy and Knowledge Center are written or reviewed by our editorial team against the standards published at /editorial-standards. Glossary entries follow a structured template (definition, why it matters, examples, best practices, related terms, FAQ).
Updates & corrections
Dictionary updates and content corrections are issued on a rolling basis. Material errata are noted at the bottom of an article. To report a correction, email editorial@wordrushtools.com.
