Word List Methodology
How WordRushTools selects, filters, and updates word lists.
Our word lists are built and maintained against a documented methodology.
Word selection
We include words that appear in widely accepted open-source word lists and curated lexicons. We surface multiple dictionary presets where major lists differ.
Accepted spellings
We include both American and British spellings where they are commonly accepted, and flag regional variants where helpful.
Regional variants
Where a word is spelled differently across regions, we surface both forms rather than asserting one canonical spelling.
Abbreviations
Common, dictionary-recognized abbreviations are included only when supported by a recognized lexicon.
Proper nouns
Proper nouns are generally excluded from standard game-style word lists.
Offensive word filtering
Slurs and other offensive terms may be filtered or redacted by default in educational contexts. Filtering does not imply linguistic non-existence.
Updates
Word lists are updated on a rolling basis as new lexicon editions are released.
